Once again, this years Cooroy Fusion Festival? will coincide with the Noosa District Orchid & Foliage Society?’s Mothers Day Orchid show will is being held in the CWA Hall on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th May.
Last year there was over 160 entries, topped of by the Show Champion Burana Stripe.
The Orchid Society conducts their show at this time of the year to showcase the Queensland Floral Emblem, Dendrobium bigibbum that is more commonly known as the Cooktown Orchid. These orchids are found over a wide range in far North Queensland. I class Den bigibbum (bi- gibb-um) as one of the best orchids in the world. There will be many other varieties of orchids on display with a hugh array of colours and perfumes. Orchid growing makes a terrific hobby and the show will be well worth a visit again this year.
The Noosa Orchid & Foliage Society is a group of like minded people learning to grow orchids, fostering friendship and promoting conservation of orchids. The club meets the first Saturday of each month at the Tinbeerwah hall, starting at 1pm.
